Judges Training

Beyond grooming speakers, every tournament represents a special opportunity for QatarDebate to raise great judges.

In a 4-round tournament, trainee judges will first watch and learn. In the first round, they will only observe and share their comments. In the second round, their practical training begins. Next, they apply their skills as shadow judges in the third round. And once they feel confident and ready, they will chair as the actual judge in the fourth and final round.

We’re pleased to have trained and certified over 40 local judges between 2009 and 2010 alone. What’s more, 20 of these judges have progressed to judge at the 2010 World Schools Debating Championships held in Doha, Qatar.
