World Schools Debating Championships

QatarDebate first participated in the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) in Washington DC in 2008. Not only were we the first Gulf country to take part in this prestigious event, we also set a new world record for best performance by new entrant country when we won four out of eight debates.

Later that year, we took part in the bid to host the World Schools Debating Championships 2010.

In 2009, we sent our team to take part in the World Schools Debating Championships, Athens. Our team did Qatar proud; putting their best ever performance and even won the bid to host the World Schools Debating Championships 2010.

In February 2010, Qatar became the first country in the Middle East to host the World Schools Debating Championships. With record-breaking participation from 57 countries, the event was crowned “Best WSDC held”.

QatarDebate is committed to grooming and sending talented debaters to all future World Schools Debating Championships.
