QatarDebate held a discussion panel at the Design Doha Forum on Qatari Architecture

In Msheireb Downtown Doha, in collaboration with Design Doha, QatarDebate – established by Qatar Foundation for Education, Research and Community Development – organized on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2024 – a panel discussion entitled “Qatari Architecture: From Mud to Concrete” during the Design Doha Forum with Engineer Hisham Qaddoumi, a pioneer of architecture in the field of design and creative engineering in Qatar and its strides from the beginning of the fifties until now.

The dialogue session dealt with many important topics related to the traditional heritage of architecture in Doha and the standards of openness studied in designs of an artistic nature and how the Qatari architectural identity crystallized so that it combined the nobility of the past and the spirit of modernity. The radical changes that affected the urban fabric in Doha and the development of projects, building materials and their characteristics, which gave architecture a practical and theoretical impetus.

Enriching conversations, inspiring discussions and diverse perspectives in the session, moderated by architect Moza Al-Obaidan who. engaged in an enriching conversation with architect Hisham Qaddoumi, President and Managing Director of Arab Architects, a multidisciplinary design firm that designed and implemented Sheraton and the Amiri Diwan.
